About Us

Who We Are

Horizon Retreats is a youth project founded and directed by visual artist Dulcie Davy  It is supported by Battersea Arts Centre and was brought to life in early 2020 through its initial funding from The Agency. Its mission changed slightly later that year, centering more around the Arts and widening its participant criteria.

What We Do

The project is delivered through various creative activity workshops: painting, clay sculpting, creating vision boards, making bath bombs, baking and more.

Who Its For

Our workshops are available to girls who are:

  • 13 - 16 years old
  • Part of a black or minority ethnic group
  • Living in London (priority is given to those who live or attend school within South London)

Our project is also particularly open to girls who meet the above criteria and any of the following apply:

  • From a financially disadvantaged background
  • Receive pastoral support at school
  • Attend a PRU

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide young girls of colour with the opportunity to be creative, try out new artistic endeavours and be a part of an all female community.

The expansion of Hoizon Retreats is important to us. We are currently working towards taking participants from London on residential trips, to participate in the programme abroad.
